Understand workflows
A workflow is a collection of blocks connected together to automate a process. Create a workflow from scratch, or start from a workflow template to get going quickly. Once it is running, you can share it with others.

1.Working with blocks
Blocks are the building components of a workflow. They perform a range of actions, including:
- Starting the workflow.
- Fetching and sending data.
- Processing and manipulating data.
This page explains how to add, configure, arrange, connect, test and remove blocks on the canvas. For what each block does and how to configure it, see the Blocks page.
Add a block
From the Blocks panel, find the block you need. Either click the block to add it to the center of the canvas, or drag and drop it onto the canvas where you want it.
Open block configuration
Select a block on the canvas to open its configuration panel. Use the panel to view or change the settings for that block. The available options depend on the block type.
Tip
Configure a block right after you add it, so it is ready before you connect it to the next step in the workflow.
Rename a block
Select the block and choose Rename to change its name. Use a descriptive name that makes the block's purpose clear, such as "Classify support request" instead of "Text Classifier 2".
Move a block
To reposition a block, click and hold it, then drag it to the desired location on the canvas. Moving a block does not change its configuration or its connections.
Duplicate a block
Select the block and choose Duplicate to create a copy. This is useful when you need a similar block with small changes, such as a second AI Agent with different instructions.
2.Connecting blocks
Connect two blocks
Select the connection point on the first block and drag it to the connection point on the block that should receive the data.
Remove a connection
Select the connection between two blocks and choose Delete to disconnect them. Removing a connection does not delete either block.
Insert a step
You can add a step in the middle of an existing workflow by describing what you want. Studio AI makes the change for you.
Select the connection between the two blocks.
Click + ("Insert a step here"). Studio AI opens and asks what you want to add between the two blocks.
Describe the step in plain language.
Review the changes Studio AI proposes.
If you are happy with them, ask Studio AI to apply the changes. If not, tell it what to adjust and review again.
3.Testing and removing blocks
Test a block
Test a block to check that it works before you build the rest of the workflow.
Configure the block.
Open the block's menu and choose Run from here.
Check the result in the block's output.
Delete a block
Select the block you want to remove and choose Delete. Deleting a block removes it from the workflow, along with any connections attached to it.
