1.Overview
The Canvas is the main workspace where you design, configure, test and run a workflow. It is organized into a top bar, a blocks panel, a visual canvas, a configuration panel and execution controls.
2.The Canvas at a glance
| Area | Purpose | Typical action |
|---|---|---|
| Top bar | Navigation, workflow name, save status, the Build / Playground / Deploy modes, and the toolbar. | Switch modes or save the workflow. |
| Blocks panel | Browse and search the available blocks. | Find and add a block. |
| Canvas | The visual area where blocks are arranged and connected. | Build the workflow. |
| Studio AI bar | A prompt at the bottom of the canvas for changing the workflow by describing what you want. | Ask Studio to make a change. |
| Configuration panel | Configure the selected block and inspect its output. | Edit the block's settings. |
| Execution controls | Buttons at the bottom of the configuration panel. | Test a block or run the whole workflow. |
3.Top bar
- Back
- Returns to the workflow list.
- Workflow name
- The name of the workflow you are editing.
- Save status
- Shows when the workflow was last saved, for example "Saved 10s ago".
Modes
The three modes keep building, testing and deploying separate:
- Build
- Design the workflow: add, connect and configure blocks on the canvas.
- Playground
- Chat with the workflow to test how it behaves before you deploy it.
- Deploy
- Make the finished workflow available for use.
Toolbar
The toolbar on the right of the top bar gives quick access to these actions:
- Test Cases
- Create, manage and run test cases that check the workflow's behavior and output.
- Approvals
- Review and act on pending approval requests for this workflow.
- Save
- Saves the workflow and its configuration.
- Toolbar Guide
- Opens a short guide to the toolbar controls.
4.Blocks panel
The Blocks panel on the left lists the blocks you can add to your workflow.
- Search
- Find a block by name.
- Categories
- Browse blocks by category, such as Flow, AI & LLMs and Logic. The number next to each category shows how many blocks it contains.
- Blocks
- Select a block to add it to the canvas.
5.Canvas
The canvas in the center is where you assemble the workflow.
- Blocks
- Each block is one step in the workflow.
- Connections
- The lines between blocks show how data flows from one step to the next.
- Canvas controls
- The controls at the bottom right let you zoom in and out, fit the workflow to the screen, and lock the canvas.
- Mini map
- A small overview of the whole workflow that helps you move around large workflows.
- Studio AI bar
- The "Ask the studio to change this workflow" prompt at the bottom of the canvas. Describe a change in plain language and Studio makes it for you.
6.Configuration panel
The configuration panel opens on the right when you select a block. Use it to set up that block.
- Block header
- Shows the selected block's name and type.
- Parameters
- The settings that control what the block does. They depend on the block type.
- Output
- Shows the data the block produced the last time it ran.
- Describe what this block should do
- Describe the block's behavior in plain language, then select Configure. Studio fills in the block's parameters for you to review.
- Notes
- Add notes about the block for yourself and your team. Notes are not used when the workflow runs.
7.Test a block and run the workflow
The bottom of the configuration panel has two execution controls:
- Test Block
- Runs only the selected block, so you can check its configuration.
- Run Workflow
- Runs the whole workflow from start to finish.
